Yesterday I saw the first snow this year, covering the gloominess of winter in the city. At once, everything seemed brighter, cleaner and nicer. The thought that crossed my mind was: “This finally looks like Christmas!”. Funny, but till that moment I didn’t even realize how close we were to Holidays. Today, I decided to check how Twitter Christmas looks like. I opened Twittie and entered a few tags and phrases into the monitoring tab. After a short moment I was up to date with the hottest Christmas campaigns, quotes and offers.
I started my search with a simple “Christmas” keyword. After skimming some tweets I quickly found other popular tags like #xmas, #christmasspirit, #fbxmas, #gift or popular in Japan #CozyXmas2011. There was also one more #Sayitwithskype tag, which describes the Skype’s Christmas campaign. The company encourages you to record a special Christmas video and send it to your loved ones. The idea is right on time with the trend of digitalizing everything we can, even Christmas post cards, and Skype is in almost every home. Google people are probably biting their nails from jealousy, because they didn’t do such a campaign to promote their Hang-Outs (Google+ group video chat).
There are two popular videos recorded with Skype circulating on the #Sayitwithskype tag: the band singing their rock version of the Christmas wishes and a funny video from Cuban friends. I personally prefer the rock band, although Cubans are also cool. Which one do you like?
On other tags I found a few tweets that caught my attention. Nice Christmas quote tweet by Cez Fitzgerald:
